Internship 2026

Since 1997, Shofar Internship has given those who want to serve Christ and explore ministry the opportunity to grow in the devotion and ability needed to serve God’s Church. The programme is designed to grow you as a disciple, leader and worshipper while developing lifelong friendships with your fellow interns.

Shofar Internship is the perfect opportunity to gain practical ministry experience and is ideal for those who would like to gain exposure to different aspects of ministry as well as those who simply wish to serve for a year. Interns work alongside pastors and staff in all aspects of ministry, with a focus on student and mission ministry.

For 2026 the programme commences on 2 February at the Shofar office in Hatfield. The programme will continue until 30 November and includes breaks during April, June/July and September recess.

Can I study theology while doing Internship?

In addition to Shofar Bible School our interns can enrol for an accredited Higher Certificate in Christian Life (credits 120, NQF level 4), presented in partnership with the South African Theological Seminary (SATS). Each module contains exercises and self-tests that help you master the subject and will culminate in an assignment and a written exam. On passing all the certificate subjects, you will be able to continue with a second year (diploma level) and third year (degree level). In other words, you could, therefore, continue and complete a theological degree in your own time after the Shofar Internship year.

Important Info
